About the Event

The Kaukau Skyline Traverse will host the 2026 New Zealand Mountain Running Championships, bringing together the best mountain runners from across the country. Set on Wellington's iconic Kaukau Ridge, this challenging course offers stunning views and technical terrain that will test athletes at all levels.

This prestigious event is sanctioned by Athletics New Zealand and welcomes approximately 150 participants across multiple distance categories, from junior athletes to masters competitors.

    Race Start & Finish

    All races will start and finish at the Waiora Hub on Kaukau Ridge. The venue provides excellent facilities and spectacular views of Wellington.

    Categories

    Championship titles will be awarded across multiple age groups, from junior categories through to masters divisions. This is an Athletics NZ sanctioned championship event, making it an important fixture on the national mountain running calendar.

    Important: Participants must be registered members of an Athletics New Zealand affiliated club to compete in championship categories.
